Peoria County early voting outpaces 2022 midterms
PEORIA (25News Now) - More than 4,000 Peoria County voters have cast their ballots ahead of Election Day, according to the county’s election commission.
The commission reported early voting turnout is running ahead of 2022 levels.
Officials said interest in several races on the ballot may be driving more people to the polls.
With Election Day approaching, officials are encouraging voters to vote early to avoid a last-minute rush.
“Early voting allows voters to mark it off their to-do list. You get to avoid some of the long lines, and it’s a great way to vote if you prefer to vote in person,” said the election commission’s executive director Jessily Joseph.
“I will say, though, we tend to be a little bit busy during lunch, so if you’re planning to come for early voting, lunchtime might be the time to avoid,” said Joseph.
Early voting hours and deadline
Early voting continues through Monday, Nov. 2.
The election commission is open from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays this week.
Voting locations and more information are available at peoriaelections.gov.
