PEORIA (25News Now) - A Peoria nonprofit focused on bringing art to the city’s youth is bringing back its long-running summer camp program.

Art Inc. is partnering with Peoria Public Schools to bring kids to a “Fantastic Summer Art Camp” this year. The program is seven weeks long and provides free breakfast and lunch each day.

The program is free, depending on how long kids attend.

Kids ages six through 14 will be able to take part in creative art stations, field trips every Friday, and a theatrical production of Willy Wonka Junior.

Art Inc. CEO and Co-Founder Nikki Romain said the summer camp is a safe place for kids to spend their summer.

“Your kids are not in the house bored, they’re staying out of trouble, and they’re actually getting things that stimulate their mind,” she said. “It’s just a way to escape from any issues, any trauma, or just have fun.”

PPS students can still sign up for camp until May 6. Kids outside the PPS system can also sign up after May, 6, however, they will need their own transportation.

Those looking for more details can visit Art Inc.’s website or call the organization at 309-713-3744.

Camp begins on June 1 and ends on July 17.
