New domed event space opens in Peoria

PEORIA (25News Now) - Step inside Peoria’s newest community space, a bubble for activities.

Officials held a ribbon-cutting Thursday morning inside the new dome during the annual 365 Breakfast for the Peoria Public Schools Foundation.

The all-weather indoor athletic facility at Peoria Stadium is more than 100,000 square feet. It is for students at Richwoods, Manual, and Peoria high schools, but it is also available for public and private events.

The Astroturf space can accommodate several fields of play, depending on the age of the athletes. Additionally, there are golf simulators, batting cages, and other equipment.

Leaders anticipate youth leagues, clinics, and tournaments will be hosted here.
