Boy killed in McLean County crash identified

McLEAN COUNTY (25News Now) - A Springfield boy has been identified after a deadly crash in McLean County overnight Monday.

McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder identified the boy as 13-year-old Luke W. Peterson. His preliminary cause of is multiple blunt injuries as a passenger in an SUV that left the road and crashed.

Illinois State Police were called around midnight Monday to US 136 under I-55 for the single-vehicle crash.

The coroner’s office was called to Carle BroMenn around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Illinois State Police and the coroner’s office continue to investigate.
