It’s officially High School Football Playoff time in Central Illinois, as brackets and pairings for all 8 classes are revealed
Playoff Round 1 games will kick off both next Friday and Saturday
(25News Now) - After nine regular season weeks, the IHSA Football State Playoffs officially kicked off today as the brackets and pairings for all eight classes were revealed.
Four of the Mid-Illini playoff-bound teams were awarded first-round home games. In Class 4A, Metamora will host Chicago South Shore. In Class 5A, Washington will host Normal U-High Friday night, while Morton hosts T-F North. Dunlap will host Pekin Friday night in an all-Mid Illini 6A matchup.
In the Big 12, Peoria Notre Dame will go on the road to Marengo Friday night in a Class 4A matchup. In Class 5A, co-Big 12 champs Peoria High will host Decatur MacArthur next Saturday night, while Bloomington hosts Mascoutah. Normal West will host Thornwood in a Class 6A matchup. Normal Community earned the #19 seed in the 7A playoffs and will go on the road next Saturday to Carmel Catholic (Mundelein).
A trio of undefeated 9–0 powers will also be hosting first-round playoff matchups next Saturday in Farmington, El Paso-Gridley, and Bloomington Central Catholic. In Class 2A, the Farmers host Eastland, while the Titans will host Chicago Marshall; the Saints will host Princeton in a Class 3A matchup.
Other playoff matchups involving Central Illinois teams include:
Class 1A: #9 Heyworth at #8 Princevile, #15 Stark County at #2 A-W, and #10 Dee-Mack vs. #7 Chicago Crane.
Class 2A: #9 Tri-Valley vs. #8 Chicago Richards, and #10 Ridgeview-Lexington at #7 Newman Central Catholic.
Class 3A: #10 Greenville at #7 Olympia.
