Suspect arrested for deadly shooting in Downtown Peoria
PEORIA (25News Now) - Peoria Police said late Friday night a suspect is in custody for a shooting that killed a 45-year-old man in Downtown Peoria.
The victim is identified as Sylvester Erving of Peoria. Coroner Jamie Harwood said Erving was pronounced dead about 11:50 a.m. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
Shortly before 5 p.m. police said Lacorlis T. Edwards, 40, turned himself in and was arrested for first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.
Earlier, police said the victim suffered an apparent gunshot wound in the face outside The Neon Bison, a bar in the 500 block of Main Street. The shooting was reported about 2:30 a.m. Friday.
This is Peoria’s ninth homicide this year.
