You Gotta Eat: Mi Ranchito
ELMWOOD (25 News Now) - I’m a big fan of Mexican food, and I hear there’s a new spot in town serving all kinds of south-of-the-border favorites.
Dana Cardenas has always had a passion for cultural cuisine, and when she discovered Elmwood, she knew it’d be a great place to open Mi Ranchito.

“Six years ago, I fell in love with this small town,” Dana said. “I’m so happy I came back to check it out, and here I am.”
At Mi Ranchito, they’ve got a massive menu full of options for everyone. And it’s all served in a warm and inviting setting.
The spot is known for its lightning-fast kitchen. Before I know it, it’s time to dig into some crispy, crunchy chicken flautas.

Next up, I’m met with a medley of marinated meats: tasty fajitas and one of the bestsellers - ‘El Molcajete’ - loaded with beef, chicken, shrimp, veggies and more.
Add on a wild wet burrito drenched in queso sauce, and I can’t decide what I like best.
Plus, for dessert I get to try some sweet, spongy flan and some warm, fresh sopaipillas - fried sweet dough topped with chocolate sauce.

Mi Ranchito has spice-lovers covered - they’ll make any dish as hot as you want.
And, if you’re feeling extra spicy, try one of their magnificent margaritas. I tried a non-alcoholic version and it was smooth and sweet - just like the restaurant’s atmosphere.
Dana says when you come into Mi Ranchito, she wants you to feel right at home - just like how the community has made her feel.
“I just love Elmwood. Small town - good for living,” Dana said.
