Tom Van Ness comes to WEEK Television with a diverse background in sales, marketing and advertising Van Ness works with a diverse group of business categories and organizations on increasing return on investment with the goal of not increasing additional expense.
Van Ness, wife and two boys moved to the region in the summer of 2017. Van Ness started his career with the Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News before returning to his hometown of Quincy, IL, and work for the hometown paper, The Herald-Whig. He later was promoted to re-establish a marketing department and plan for the Herald-While while also growing revenue through new products. Van Ness ultimately became Advertising Director of the Herald-Whig and their products. Four years of consecutive home delivery growth and diversification in commercial printing and magazine publishing positioned the Herald-Whig and their clients deeper into the market as Van Ness was a driving force behind that growth. During that time Van Ness also a graduated from the highly esteemed National Association of Broadcasters’ Broadcast Leadership Training program focusing in diversity and education on station management and ownership.
Van Ness served on several community and state boards for organizations such as United Way, Illinois Press Association and was chairman of Quincy, IL, 175th Anniversary. He currently is volunteering with Crittenton Center, Heart of Illinois United Way and a member of the Peoria-North Rotary Club.
