Joe Hennessy

Joe joins the KCTV5 News Team after working as a Multimedia Journalist, Morning Anchor, and Sports Anchor in Topeka at WIBW for two years.

He’s excited to call Kansas City his home and try new things, especially the BBQ.

He attended Ohio University studying Journalism, Sociology, and Electronic Media. He hosted the Emmy Award Winning “Gridiron Glory” football show on WOUB, reported for the basketball show, “Hardwood Heroes,” and reported for the local news show, “Newswatch." He highlighted food insecurity in southeast Ohio, how state politics impacted small towns in the area, and showcased local athletes.

Joe moved around several times in Ohio and attended high school in Oswego, Illinois -- a suburb of Chicago. He was able to meet people from various backgrounds, with a variety of opinions, which is a big factor in why he got into the journalism world.

Joe is a Cincinnati Bengals fan at heart but he does enjoy watching the Chiefs play and seeing what the Chiefs Kingdom does every game day.

In his free time, Joe likes to work out, play basketball in competitive leagues or at a local park, listen to music (mostly R&B), and watch movies with his cat, Jameson.
