Goodwill serves Thanksgiving meals to local veterans
Record attendance was just one of the treats to be had at the gathering.
PEORIA (25News Now) - Area veterans received a yearly ‘thank you’ from Goodwill.
The non-profit organization held its seventh annual Veterans Thanksgiving Luncheon in Peoria. It’s one of the ways Goodwill thanks those who served our country.
Conventional Thanksgiving foods may be a small token of appreciation, but Austyn Harms, a client advocate for Goodwill says the event isn’t just about getting a meal. “I think it’s a good way to show appreciation, and we’re still remembering the sacrifices they made. Even after all this time, all these years that have passed, we’re still saying thank you, and we’re still recognizing that. These events are one of the biggest ways we can do that for them.”
This year’s luncheon broke the record for attendance. Harms says the amount of people who showed up was enough to fill the house.
