25 Sports High School Tuesday - November 14, 2023
(25News Now) - We are four days away from the final four in the Illinois high school football playoffs. In Class 7A, Normal Community is playing in their first state semifinal since 2007. The Ironmen are very thankful to still be together and practicing in Week 13. In Class 6A, Washington is gearing up for a state semifinal matchup with East St. Louis. The Panthers defense has been terrific all year thanks in large part to senior linebacker Jase Harlan who plays much bigger than his 5-foot-9 frame.
In high school hoops, tipoff week for girls basketball continues with a great non-conference matchup of traditional Central Illinois powers. Peoria High topped Morton 53-48 to start the season 1-0 behind 23 points from Aaliyah Guyton. Addy Engel scored 17 for the Potters.
In the Galesburg Thanksgiving Shootout, Washington topped Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin 53-45 behind 20 points from Avery Tibbs. Meanwhile, Dunlap fell 60-42 to East Moline. At the Clinton Turkey Tussle, Dee-Mack got the best of Decatur St. Teresa 51-45.
