UPDATE: 3 people hurt as explosion destroys rural Peoria County home

PEORIA COUNTY (25News Now) - Three people have been hurt, two of them with serious burns, when a water heater exploded at a rural Trivoli home.

The home is considered a total loss, said Logan-Trivoli Deputy Fire Chief Eric Lundberg, who said the blast “basically blew the brick off the house.”

The explosion happened about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 17000 block of Todd School Road in Trivoli.

Two people were working on the water heater at the time. Both workers and the homeowner were transported to a hospital.

Deputy Chief Lundberg said two victims suffered extreme burns. while the third person had chest pain. All three were taken to the hospital.
