Central Illinois athletes celebrate National Signing Day 2023
(25News Now) - Wednesday was National Signing Day across the country as college-bound athletes signed their National Letters of Intent. And it was a very busy signing day around Central Illinois.
At Normal Community, Iron senior track star Ali Ince made it official with the Oregon Ducks. After being recruited by nearly every major national program in the country, Ince put pen to paper to sign with the Ducks where she’ll compete in both cross country and track. Also at Normal Community, basketball player Jaheem Webber signed with Wright State, Ethan Eberle signed with Louisville baseball, Olivia Price signed with Grand Canyon volleyball, Olivia Corson signed with McKendree basketball and Marisol Martinez signed to play lacrosse at Colorado State University Pueblo.
At Peoria High, Lions hoops star Aaliyah Guyton officially signed her NLI to play basketball at Iowa. Guyton will join the reigning national runners up next season.
It was a busy signing day at Metamora as four Redbirds signed their college letters. Basketball star Cooper Koch signed to play Big Ten basketball at Iowa while teammate Tyler Mason signed with Winona State. Meanwhile, Redbird volleyball stars Izzy Vandeschraaf (Asbury University in Kentucky) and Bella Gregory (ICC) signed their college letters.
At Peoria Notre Dame, two Irish basketball stars signed to play Division I hoops as Mya Wardle inked her NLI to play at Eastern Kentucky while Eoin Dillon is headed to the Missouri Valley Conference to play at Belmont.
At Dunlap, nine Eagles signed their college letters including basketball star Bubba Sollberger to Northern Illinois and soccer standout Abbie Gleason to UIS.
At Normal U-High, seven Pioneers signed to play at the next level including baseball standouts Charlie Vercruysse to Notre Dame and Devan Tupper to Eastern Illinois, volleyball star Rachel Ogunleye to Vanderbilt and softball standout Kyndal Shively to Valparaiso.
At Illini Bluffs, six Tigers signed their college letters including basketball star Hank Alvey to Lehigh and baseball ace Josh Vaughn to Bradley. Other Tigers signing included Lily Luczkowiak to ICC basketball, Reese Cruit to ICC volleyball, Brooke Buchen to Spoon River College volleyball and Annabelle Fortin to Heartland volleyball.
