Woman assaulted during home invasion, carjacking

PEORIA (25News Now) - Peoria Police say a woman has minor injuries after reportedly being carjacked and having her home invaded.

Spokesperson Semone Roth says officers were called at around 6:41 p.m. Tuesday to the 2400 block of North Indiana for a report of a carjacking.

They found a woman at the scene who said an unknown man entered her home, stole items and fled.

The woman went outside and was confronted by the man, who reported being physically assaulted and having more items stolen, including her car keys.

The man fled in the woman’s vehicle.

At around 8:32 p.m., officers located the vehicle in the 1400 block of South Livingston.

Roth says 4-5 juveniles fled the vehicle when officers approached.

One of them, a 17-year-old boy, was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle and obstructing police

He was taken to the juvenile detention center.

The incident is under investigation.
