Hospitalized kids learn arts, science and more during their stay at OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois
PEORIA (25News Now) - Kids who stay at OSF’s Children’s Hospital are getting bedside education during their stay.
That includes 9-year-old Ellie, who loves art projects.
Born with spina bifida, Ellie said she’s stayed here three times in the last two months for surgeries on her back.
Every morning at 9, she goes down the hall to learn about art, medicine, and other careers. Ellie says this is something she looks forward to each day.
“It means a lot to me that people are there to support me. I just go down the hallway and I do arts and crafts. I can stay there as long as I want to,” said the 9-year-old patient.
The “STEAM” program teaches patients science, technology, engineering, art and math for free during their stay.
