Man indicted for September homicide in Peoria

PEORIA (25News Now) - A Peoria man will be arraigned Thursday in connection with a September homicide at a local gas station.

25-year-old Amorta Nelson allegedly shot 33-year-old Antonio Hardy on the night of September 18th at the Phillips 66 near the intersection of North Sheridan Road and West McClure Avenue.

The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office put out a news release last month, saying surveillance video showed someone allegedly identified as Nelson getting out of a car and repeatedly shooting Hardy who was pumping gas.

Nelson admitted being at the gas station, but denied shooting Hardy, according to the state’s attorney’s office.

Nelson was also indicted Tuesday on one count of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.
