NORMAL (25News Now) - In a couple of years, Raising Cane’s will come to Normal after elected officials signed off on the deal Monday night.

The Normal Town Council unanimously decided to approve the plan bringing the chicken finger chain to The Shoppes at College Hills, off Veterans Parkway.

Store and salon Beauty Brands currently occupies that space. That business will have to move out in 2025 so that the building can be demolished to make room for restaurant.

During the application process and at Monday night’s council meeting, some people spoke out about traffic concerns.

Beauty Brands employee Andrew Woodburn said the popular restaurant and drive-thru will add to an already busy spot.

Town council member Andy Byars said it appears the process of not renewing Beauty Brands lease was done fairly, and the government should not pick one business over the other.

Beauty Brands general manager told the council that the business intended to leave the property even if the council said no to Raising Cane’s building plan.

Council members unanimously approved the plan after some back-and-forth about traffic flow.
