Corn spills as three freight cars derail in East Peoria
EAST PEORIA (25News Now) - A train derailment early Monday evening in East Peoria created a mess, but no serious problems, according to the Toledo, Peoria and Western Railway, which owns the tracks.
Three freight cars derailed, spilling corn under the Meadow Avenue overpass near Burger Barge restaurant.
A 25News crew saw no police or fire crews there, but several vehicles from Joe’s Towing and Recovery were on the scene to lift the corn cars back into an upright position.
The derailment happened in a place where traffic wasn’t blocked. No injuries were reported, and it’s not known what caused the train cars to go off the tracks.
