(25News Now) - A huge night in the high school volleyball state tournament saw a number of local teams advance to sectional championship matches. At the 4A Pekin Sectional, Normal West is moving onto the championship match after a two-set win over Minooka. The Wildcats will take on Belleville West for a sectional title on Wednesday.

In Class 3A, Normal U-High is headed to the Springfield Southeast sectional championship match after a two-set semifinal victory against Taylorville. The Pioneers will take on Lincoln for the sectional title Wednesday.

Elsewhere in 3A, it will be an all-Mid-Illini sectional championship match at the Galesburg sectional. Morton beat LaSalle-Peru and Metamora beat Ottawa to advance to meet each other in Wednesday’s sectional championship.

In Class 2A, Fieldcrest fell to Rock Falls in two sets while IVC advanced to the Princeton sectional title match with a two-set win over Orion.

In Class 1A, Illini Bluffs beat Kewanee Wethersfield to move onto the Princeville sectional title match. Elsewhere, Hartem is moving onto the Concord Triopia sectional final after a win over Mendon Unity.

In soccer, Peoria Notre Dame is gearing up for a Super-Sectional match against Chicago Brother Rice on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Monday was also the first day of girls basketball practice in Illinois
