Rivian surpasses 16,000 EVs produced in Normal in 3Q
Automaker produces 16% more EVs vs 2Q
NORMAL (25News Now) - Rivian Automotive made 16% more electric vehicles in the third quarter of this year, keeping the company on track toward meeting its goal of producing 52,000 vehicles this year at its plant in Normal.
The company reported on Monday said it made 16,304 EVs, 121% more than the same time a year ago.
“These figures remain in line with the company’s expectations, and it believes it is on track to deliver on the 52,000 annual production guidance previously provided.,” Rivian said in a news release.
Rivian revised upward its 2023 production goal in early August from its initial goal of 50,000 cars.
Rivian said it delivered 15,564 EVs during the three-month period ending Sept. 30, which is 23% more than the second quarter and 136% higher than the third quarter of last year.
“Another great quarter,” Rivian founder and CEO RJ Scaringe tweeted out on Monday.
“HUGE thanks to the Rivian team,” Scaringe said.
About 8,000 people work at the Twin Cities plant.
Rivian will release third quarter financial results on Tuesday, Nov. 7 after the stock market close.
