Local NAACP hosts voter registration event Friday

BLOOMINGTON (25News Now) - The Bloomington-Normal NAACP is hosting a voter registration drive and voter check-up later this week.

During Downtown Bloomington’s First Friday event, NAACP volunteers will be registering voters from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 315 North Main Street.

Promoted as a non-partisan registration drive, new voters also have the option of registering online at TurboVote.org, which sends telephone reminders for people to vote.

The voter check-up is for people who are already registered. The organization said its volunteers will make sure those voters are in Illinois’ election system, and their correct addresses are listed.

The NAACP will also be providing information about upcoming elections and how to become election judges.
