East Peoria annual fall clean-up underway
PEORIA (25News Now) - The annual fall clean-up is underway across East Peoria.
So far, the East Peoria Department of Public Works has picked up between 180-200 tons of junk.
Garbage and Recycling Streets Supervisor Ric Semonski says that the event is meant to keep people from throwing trash in ravines and ditches.
Only residents are able to participate in the clean-up - not businesses, commercial properties or multi-family residences. Items that residents can leave out in the driveways for pickup include carpets, furniture, mattresses and tree limbs.
Among the items not accepted include appliances, electronics and hazardous waste. Residents are encouraged to take items that are not accepted to the proper facilities for alternative disposal.
A full list of accepted and not accepted items can be found here.
