(25News Now) - It was a big day for a pair of Central Illinois high school girls golf teams on Sectional Monday.
At the Class 1A Wolf Creek sectional, Peoria Notre Dame took home a team title in dominating fashion led by individual medalist Ella Coulter’s two-under 70. At the Class 2A Ironwood sectional, Normal U-High won the team title and were led by Ihnera Gerongay’s 7th place finish. Both teams advance to this weekend’s state finals. Other teams advancing include the Bloomington Central Catholic girls in Class 1A.
In boys golf, East Peoria’s Connor Watson, Normal U-High’s Brody Allen and Peoria Notre Dame’s Jack Coulter and Charlie Joseph are headed to state in Class 2A after impressive performances at the 2A Kellogg Sectional. In Class 3A, Washington’s Carter Heffta is headed to state after a strong day at the 3A Lick Creek Sectional. In Class 1A, Bloomington Central Catholic is headed to state after a 2nd place finish at the Auburn Sectional.
In soccer, Normal U-High picked up a 2-1 win over Peoria Christian in a battle of Class 1A powers. Meanwhile, Dunlap beat Bloomington 7-0 while Peoria Notre Dame topped Peoria Manual 9-0.
