16-year-old charged as an adult in Bloomington homicide

BLOOMINGTON (25News Now) - A 16-year-old is charged in adult court, accused in the stabbing death of a 19-year-old.
Luis A. Monroy, of Bloomington, is charged with four counts of first-degree murder in the weekend death of Nicholas Zapata.
Bloomington Police responded around 10 p.m. Saturday to the 300 block of Kenmore, finding Zapata with life-threatening injuries.
Zapata was later pronounced deceased at an area hospital.
About two hours later, police and McLean County Sheriff’s deputies responded to rural Heyworth, where they took Monroy into custody.
Monroy is detained in the McLean County Juvenile Detention Center and will make his next court appearance on Oct. 13.
