UPDATE: Teenager dies after shooting in Central Peoria

UPDATE 9 P.M. - Peoria Police say a teenage boy has died at a local hospital after a shooting early Friday evening in Central Peoria.

Police say they were called shortly before 7 p.m. to the 1600 block of North Great Oak Road. Officers said they found the juvenile with apparent gunshot wounds.

He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, becoming Peoria’s 20th homicide victim this year.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood has not yet released the teen’s name or manner of his death.

Police say they have no suspect information.

PEORIA (25News Now) - Peoria Police say a teenager suffered an apparent gunshot wound early Friday evening in Central Peoria.

Police spokesperson Semone Roth said officers were called shortly before 7 p.m. to the 1600 block of North Great Oak Road.

Roth said the male juvenile was “immediately” taken to a local hospital. His condition is unknown, said Roth.

Information about any suspects is also not available.
