HENRY COUNTY (25News Now) - Two California men were arrested in Henry County after more than 5,000 lbs of illegal cannabis was found in their vehicle.

Illinois State Police stopped a 2000 Provost Bus on Interstate 80 near Henry County. A police canine identified the presence of narcotics. Numerous packages of cannabis were found in the vehicle with an estimated total weight of 5,231 lbs.

ISP say it is one of their largest drug seizures in their history. The cannabis is estimated to value between $6.3 and $14.7 million.

Robert Mazo, 29, and Pedro Arreola, 33, of Lancaster, California, were arrested on charges of cannabis trafficking, unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of cannabis.

Henry County State’s Attorney filed petitions to have both men detained pre-trial, under new no cash bail guidelines. A judge released them on pre-trial conditions.

The arrest is still under investigation and more charges may be coming, according to ISP.
