Operation Roll Call a Success!

PEORIA (25News Now) - Monday brought an incredible night of donations for our military veterans.

WEEK-TV held a phone donation event, Operation Roll Call Monday night, to benefit the Greater Peoria Honor Flight, taking out veterans to Washington D.C. as a way to thank them for their service.

And in just three hours, you helped us raise nearly $38,000 dollars.

”It’s amazing to see how much the community can come out and support our heroes. Our veterans deserve this day in DC, So, to see so many people call in is humbling and very important,” said Phyllis Piraino, V.P. of the Greater Peoria Honor Flight.

The next honor flight October 10, the third and final trip this year.

But, Piraino said, they hope to make four trips out in 2024.

Each trip costs roughly $110,00 for the plane, the fuel, the crew and the medical doctors and assist personnel who help veterans with medical issues get in and out of the planes, buses, etc. so they can enjoy the full experience.
