Theresa Tracy Strive to Survive hosting Pancreatic Cancer Dodgeball Tournament next weekend
PEORIA (25News Now) - Non-profit organization Theresa Tracy Strive to Survive is hosting their annual dodgeball tournament on Saturday, September 23.
The organization’s Vice President, Cody Fernandes, stopped by 25News to share more details about the upcoming tournament.
It’s a way for the organization to honor the memory of Theresa Tracy, who lost her short and brutal fight with pancreatic cancer in 2010, while also raising awareness and funds to aid researchers, improve survival rates and multiply survivors.
“All the funds stay local,” Fernandes said. “Us giving this money to different organizations and foundations helps guide some of this research.”
Since 2013, Theresa Tracy Strive to Survive has raised $751,000 to fight pancreatic cancer. Fernandes said they hope to cross the $1 million mark this year.
The dodgeball tournament will take place at 9:00 a.m. at the Eastside Centre (on court one) in East Peoria.
Each team will consist of 6-8 players, with a registration fee of $20 per player.
More information can be found on the organization’s Facebook page.
