PEORIA (25News Now) - Two people were injured after a house fire in Peoria early Saturday morning.
According to a news release from Battalion Chief Jeff Hascall, firefighters were called around 1:40 a.m. to a two-story home in the 1500 block of N. Bigelow Street near W. Pennsylvania Avenue.
The first crews to arrive found flames consuming the entire front of the home that also extended inside.
Two residents were able to escape before firefighters arrived. They were both taken to the hospital, one with minor injuries and the other with more serious injuries.
Additional crews were called to the scene to assist.
After the bulk of the fire was knocked down, crews entered the home to search for any trapped occupants and put out the rest of the fire. No one else was found inside.
Crews remained on scene for about two hours extinguishing hot spots.
Fire investigators were called to the scene to determine a cause, but the fire is still under investigation.
Hascall says the house was a total loss. Damage is estimated at $135,000.
