Peoria Chiefs take game 1 of Midwest League West Division Series with 4-3 win over Cedar Rapids

PEORIA (25News Now) - The Peoria Chiefs are one win away from the Midwest League Championship Series. The Chiefs held off a late rally from the Cedar Rapids Kernels in game one of the West Division Championship Series.

The Chiefs got a terrific pitching performance from Max Rajcic. The right-hander struck out a career-high nine batters to pick up the victory. He was aided by big home runs from Darlin Moquete and Ramon Mendoza on the offensive side to power the Chiefs to the win.

The series now heads to Cedar Rapids where the Chiefs can close out the series and clinch a spot in the Midwest League Championship Series on Thursday. Game two of the best-of-three series is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. on Thursday.
