BLOOMINGTON (25News Now) - U.S. Sens. Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth and U.S. Rep. Eric Sorensen (IL-17) have expressed their support for the Internal Revenue Service in building a new taxpayer correspondence print and mail management facility in Bloomington.

If built, it would be the third IRS facility to help manage the agency’s correspondence with taxpayers, better enhancing their ability to communicate with taxpayers efficiently and effectively, according to a release from U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky (IL-09).

The lawmakers “strongly encourage” IRS Commissioner Danny Wefel and the IRS to “take full advantage of the opportunity presented by the Bloomington site.”

“The facility’s location in Bloomington will also have a positive economic impact on central Illinois, bringing good paying jobs to a diverse and growing community,” the letter says.
