PEORIA (25News Now) - A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with an August shooting that killed another teenager, and Peoria County prosecutors will ask a judge for the boy to be tried as an adult.

Dahvie P. Brown-Bay, 17, of Peoria died from the August 22 shooting near North Wisconsin Avenue and East Kansas Street, in the city’s East Bluff neighborhood.

The 14-year-old was arrested without incident early Monday evening in the 300 block of Northeast Perry.

He’s being held in the juvenile detention center after the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office charged the boy with three counts of first-degree murder.

The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office announced three counts of first-degree murder against the teen.

Prosecutors allege the 14-year-old pulled out a gun and shot and killed Brown-Bey in front of several bystanders, including a 10 and 13 year old.

A video the state’s attorney’s office says is from the crime shows the 14-year-old firing four shots at Brown-Bey, with three of them fired at his head point blank.

“The actions displayed by this defendant are not the actions of a juvenile,” said State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos in a release. “He shot this person multiple times, execution-style, in broad daylight for all the world to see. Those are the actions of a cold-blooded adult killer, and that’s exactly how my office will treat him.”

The state’s attorney’s office has filed a petition to transfer the case to adult court - it’s not automatic.

A hearing on that will be on October 5.
