PEORIA (25News Now) - Peoria Police say a 15 year old was arrested on numerous weapons offenses.
Spokesperson Semone Roth says the juvenile was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon (handgun and ammo), possession of a handgun under 21 and possession of an unserialized handgun.
Roth says on Saturday, members of the department’s special investigations division were following up on an investigation about a boy in possession of an illegal firearm.
During that investigation, officers saw two subjects leaving a home in the 3200 block of Southwest Adams, get into a vehicle and drive away - one of them being the 15-year-old boy.
The vehicle was pulled over for a traffic violation.
During a search, officers found an unloaded ghost Polymer80 handgun with an extended magazine inside the vehicle.
The teen was transported to the juvenile detention center.
