Man arrested after Saturday night shooting at West Peoria bar

WEST PEORIA (25News Now) - A man faces numerous charges after allegedly shooting a West Peoria bar employee Saturday night.
In a statement, Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins says they were called to Mike’s Tavern on North Cedar Avenue just before midnight for someone shot in the stomach.
When deputies arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. A vehicle and a home was also hit by gunfire during the altercation.
Watkins adds the man shot was an employee of the bar, and his injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
Deputies later found 43-year-old Anthony Gates walking in the area that matched the suspect’s description. They also found a gun in the immediate area Gates was found. Watkins adds that he was identified as the shooter and arrested.
Gates is charged with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of Firearm w/ No FOID, and Possession of Firearm by a Felon.
