(25News Now) - A former Peoria High and University of Illinois football star has a new NFL home. The Pittsburgh Steelers have reportedly traded Kendrick Green to the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round draft pick according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Green was a third-round pick of the Steelers in the 2021 NFL Draft and started 15 games at center during his rookie season. He then moved to left guard in 2022 and bounced between the two positions in practice but was inactive for all 17 games. He had been competing at guard during training camp and the preseason in 2023 and even did some work at fullback before being traded.

Green led Peoria High to a state championship victory in 2016 and was All-Big Ten first team and a second-team All-American in his time at Illinois.
