Area gas prices down slightly ahead of Labor Day

PEORIA (25News Now) - Gas prices in the Peoria area dropped over the past week. The average price for gas fell 7.5 cents per gallon, averaging $3.93/gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 148 stations in the Peoria area.
According to GasBuddy, the cheapest gas is $3.66/g, which is the cost at Costco with a membership discount, while the most expensive was $4.19/gallon, a difference of 53.0 cents per gallon.
Although there was a slight decrease in the past week, Peoria’s prices are 20.6 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 4.4 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.
A check of GasBuddy shows a .12 cent difference in Bloomington/Normal for the 10 best gas prices. The lowest prices on Monday at midday range from $3.61/gallon to $3.73/gallon.
The lowest price statewide Sunday was $3.35/g while the highest was $5.29/g, a difference of $1.94/g.

Quad Cities- $3.68/g, down 4.2 cents per gallon from last week’s $3.72/g.
Champaign- $3.71/g, down 1 cent per gallon from last week’s $3.72/g.
Illinois- $4.06/g, down 6.8 cents per gallon from last week’s $4.13/g.
