You Gotta Eat: Maquet’s Rail House
PEKIN (25News Now) - I’m Edgar Sandoval - and when I’m not doing standup comedy, you’ll find me every week on 25News telling the story of a Central Illinois restaurant.
For my first one, I’m taking you to my go-to in Pekin - Maquet’s Rail House. It’s this week’s You Gotta Eat.
Located on Court Street in downtown Pekin, Maquet’s Rail House as attracted quite the following.
They opened in 2014 and expanded five years later to include an acunto oven that was custom-made and shipped from Naples, Italy.
”It basically had to be the first thing in this building because it’s so heavy and large,” said owner Dustin Maquet. “So we had these special dollies under the legs and it weighs about 7,500 pounds. But it was worth it cause the pizza is terrific.”
“I think it appeals to a lot of different people. I just think people feel comfortable here. They know my employees, they know what they’re gonna get when they order it and I think that’s why a lot of them keep coming back.”
