Local disc golf tournament brings in tourism money during 13th year

EUREKA (25News Now) - It’s a sport you may or may have not heard about before, but one of the largest pro disc golf tournaments in the world is right here in Central Illinois

More than 2,200 players and 4,000 paid spectators will be here but the economic impact of an event this large means more people spending money at local businesses.

Discover Peoria JD Dalfonso of Discover Peoria says $2 million dollars will be spent on businesses directly and over 2,500 hotel rooms are booked in Peoria for the event.

The event this year spans 14 courses because of the growth of the sport’s popularity.

The tournament wraps up Sunday when the winner will receive the prize money of $150,000.
