Sunny & seasonable today, rain arrives this weekend

PEORIA (25News Now) - Today: It’s another chilly start in central Illinois with morning temperatures ranging between the mid 40s to low 50s. As the sun rises, our highs will top out in the low 80s making for a seasonable day. We’ll see some hazy skies as well as wildfire smoke continues to spread across the region and air quality may be unhealthy to those with respiratory issues.

Weekend Forecast: We’ll see mostly sunny skies to start Saturday with lows in the low to mid 50s. Clouds will build in throughout the day, likely becoming mostly cloudy in the evening. If we see more sunshine in the afternoon that is less filtered from clouds, highs will climb into the mid to upper 80s. Late Saturday night into Sunday morning, widespread rain will arrive and even an isolated thunderstorm is possible. Rain continue through Sunday afternoon, then we’ll dry out for the evening. Rainfall amounts look to be between half an inch to an inch. It will be a chilly rain as temperatures will be falling throughout the day Sunday, from the 70s into the 60s by the late afternoon.

Next Week: We’ll start off the work week with below average highs in the low to mid 70s, mostly sunny skies, and breezy northwesterly winds. After that, the rest of the work week we’ll see temperatures climb back above average in the mid to upper 80s. We have slight precipitation chances Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, but as of right now we’re not seeing widespread rain chances.
