A few passing showers through tomorrow morning

PEORIA (25News Now) - A cold front will bring a few needed showers to Central Illinois this evening and tonight, along with a little smoke and eventually some slightly cooler weather. Our next chance for needed rain will come this weekend.

Tonight and Tomorrow:

Cloudy skies will continue throughout the rest of the day as a cold front slowly passes through Central Illinois. This front will bring a few showers to the area, although most of our rain will remain light and not everyone will see a shower.

A few isolated showers may continue overnight and into early tomorrow morning. Otherwise expect mostly cloudy skies tonight with lows on either side of 60.

We’ll see about a 20% chance for an isolated shower through the morning commute tomorrow, then expect cloudy skies to continue throughout the rest of the morning. Skies will clear from northeast to southwest tomorrow afternoon with highs near 80.

Some smoke from the wildfires in western Canada will remain in the air until the cold front clears the area tomorrow, although some elevated levels of ozone may continue. This may reduce our air quality at times and could lead to discomfort for anyone with a heart or lung condition. Additional plumes of smoke may return to Central Illinois later this week.

Later This Week:

Sunny skies will continue Thursday and Friday with highs near 80 on Thursday and in the mid 80s on Friday.

This Weekend:

Highs will jump back into the upper 80s on Saturday ahead of a cold front that will move through later in the day. This will bring chances for showers and storms back to Central Illinois.

We’re still working on the timing of these rain chances, but as of now it looks like they will be highest Saturday evening through Sunday morning.

Highs will drop back to near 80 behind the cold front on Sunday.
