PEORIA (25News Now) - Saturday marked the 4th consecutive day with 90 degree heat for most across Central Illinois. The heat will continue Sunday before some seasonably mild temperatures return through the work week’s forecast. Dry conditions will continue to be a trend, but a few rain chances are possible over the next week.

Sunday: Temperatures will remain hot for the second half of the weekend with highs in the upper 80′s to lower 90′s. Most will reach the upper 80′s, but for those that do reach the 90 degree mark, it’ll be the 5th consecutive day with 90 degree heat. We’ll run a few degrees cooler than Saturday due to a weak cold front that passed through the region late Saturday into early this morning.

As a result, expect a few more clouds early this morning before sunnier skies return for the second half of the day. Skies will look milky throughout the day as another round of increased wildfire smoke passes.

Next Week: Temperatures will be on a slight downward trend the next several days, bringing an end to the heat. We’ll spend Monday and Tuesday in the mid 80′s before temperatures trend near 80 degrees for Wednesday and Thursday due to a passing backdoor cold front. This cold front looks to pass during the second half of Tuesday into Wednesday’s forecast. While this cold front looks to be mainly dry, a few showers will be possible both Tuesday and Wednesday as it passes.
