PEORIA (25News Now) - School is officially out across Peoria, and hundreds came out to the East Bluff to celebrate.

The end-of-the-school-year bash returned for its ninth year to the Glen Oak Community Center. Peoria School Board member Greg Wilson puts it on. He wants to celebrate the young students’ achievements of making it through another year.

There were live DJs, games, bounce houses, and dance performances from local troupes. They also offered free food and dozens of free prizes raffled off to the kids.

Wilson said he wants to inspire and motivate students to stay in school.

“We want to drive home the motto, the importance of education. the importance of education has been the single most important factor to rise above poverty,” Wilson said.

There was also the chance to meet with Peoria Police Department, the Fire Department, and AMT. AMT was showing the basics of CPR and using a defibrillator.

They also gave away $2,000 in total to teachers at Von Steuben and Glen Oak schools.
