(25News Now) - It was a battle of Mid-Illini rivals in the Class 3A Metamora softball sectional championship on Friday. The host Redbirds beat rival Washington 3-1 to win their second-straight sectional title. They’re now headed back to the EastSide Centre Super-Sectional for a rematch with Lemont on Monday at 4:30. Lemont beat the Redbirds in the Super-Sectional a year ago.

Two Central Illinois teams punched their tickets to the state championship game in softball and baseball on Friday afternoon.

In Class 1A softball, two-time defending state champion Illini Bluffs is headed back to the state title game. The Tigers beat LeRoy 10-0 in five innings to advance to their third consecutive state title game. They’ll take on Peru St. Bede in the championship game on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. LeRoy will play Goreville for third place at 9 a.m.

In Class 1A baseball, Henry is on their way to their first-ever state championship game. The Mallards beat Sterling Newman 2-1 in walk-off fashion in the state semifinal. Freshman Jacob Miller provided the walk-off hit for Henry who is set to take on Waterloo Gibault for the state championship on Saturday with an approximate 11:30 first pitch.

In 3A baseball, Peoria Richwoods is gearing up for their sectional title game on Saturday against Rock Island.
