Young Illini Bluffs softball ready to take shot at state championship three-peat

(25News Now) - The back-to-back Class 1A softball state champions are heading back to the state finals. With a come-from-behind, extra-innings win over Carrollton in the Super-Sectional on Monday, Illini Bluffs is headed to their third straight Final Four. But this team will look a bit different than the last two that won the state title.
The Tigers are a younger team this season, featuring seven freshmen and just two seniors. One of those freshmen is pitcher Cora Ellison who the tigers have relied on heavily this season. They’re going to lean on her some more at this weekend’s state finals as they seek that three-peat state championship.
