PEORIA (25News Now) - What the homeowner called a high-speed chase ended with a bang Saturday morning when a stolen vehicle crashed into his Peoria home.

The chase ended near the corner of North Sherwood Avenue and West Richwoods Boulevard, close to North University Street.

Peoria Police arrested Evan Michael Julian Carruthers, 21 on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated fleeing and eluding, reckless driving and resisting police.

At around 12:34 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the area of the 800 block of East Gift.

When officers arrived, they saw a vehicle leaving the location at a high rate of speed, following it and attempting to pull it over.

A short time later, the suspect vehicle crashed into a residence at Sherwood and Richwoods, which ended up being the home of Daniel Mickalonis.

“Well, the room, I’ll probably never use again, actually terrified to sit in there,” said Mickalonis.

Mickalonis says police told him the driver, who was armed, was going between 75 and 80 miles-per-hour.

Mickalonis was home when it happened too.

He hopes police re-word their report.

“They got all these charges, they put out this thing that says, ‘reckless driving, discharging of a firearm in the city,’ but they didn’t put criminal property damage, and I have to get a lawyer,” said Mickalonis.

“Nobody is going to touch it unless it says criminal property damage. I mean it looks like I am faking it. Like I’m going to sue myself -- you know.”

Police say nobody was hurt.
