MCLEAN COUNTY (25News Now) - For the second year in a row, Illinois State University is welcoming thousands of Corvette owners and fans from all over the country.
The Twin Cities played host to Bloomington Gold for the first 19 years, but the show returned to its roots last year after stays in places like Springfield, St. Charles, Champaign and Indianapolis.
The event is Friday and Saturday and is expected to attract about 15,000 visitors, more than 90% from out of town, said Bloomington-Normal Area Convention and Visitors Bureau President and Chief Executive Officer Crystal Howard.
The show’s direct economic impact is estimated at $1,029 million with attendees spending their money for hotels, food, entertainment and gas, said Howard.
Advance tickets are $25 per person for one day, and $45 per person for Friday and Saturday.
The event’s finale is the After Party concert in Uptown Normal, prompting the closing of the following streets and parking areas on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
· Beaufort Street, between Linden Street and Uptown Circle
· Alleyway connecting Beaufort Street and Railroad Place on the 100 block of Beaufort Street
· Trail East Parking Lot
· Parkinson Lot
The show’s schedule and other information can be found on Bloomington Gold’s website.
