(25News Now) - Tuesday was Super Tuesday in big schools high school soccer. At the 2A Washington Super-Sectional, Peoria Notre Dame came up just short of a trip to state in a 1-0 overtime loss to Benet Academy. The Irish finish the season 18-4-2 and as conference, regional and sectional champions.
Tuesday was also sectional semifinal day in big schools softball. At the Class 3A Metamora Sectional, the host Redbirds topped Normal West 3-1 to move onto Friday’s sectional title game. That’s where they’ll meet Washington who beat Geneseo 4-1 in the early game. Friday’s sectional championship game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at Metamora.
