Running for a cause on Memorial Day
PEORIA (25News Now) - Local runners, almost 150 strong, gathered at Springdale Cemetery on Monday to take part in the “Memorial Day Salute” 5K Run
The proceeds raised during the run will go to local veterans whose homes need repairs.
Those with the Fuller Center for Housing say their all-volunteer mission has carried on for several years now, and they’re still going strong.
“This is our 6th year minus the three Covids. It’s amazing because each year, it gets more and more exciting, and to see people register. it’s just an amazing event,” said Debbie Gaught, the race coordinator.
The organization hopes to raise between $8,000 and $10,000 to help local veterans.
