25 Sports High School Track and Baseball - May 27, 2023

PEORIA (25News Now) - The boys high school track season wrapped up in championship fashion for a number of Central Illinois athletes at Saturday’s IHSA State Finals meet.

After winning a state title in basketball, Metamora’s Drew Tucker is now a state pole vault champion after leaping to victory in Class 2A.

In Class 1A, Bloomington Central Catholic freshman Isaiah Whitaker soared to a 1A state record in the pole vault en route to victory.

In Class 3A, Bloomington‘s Tyler Petersen is the state pole vault champion.

Ridgeview-Lexington is also a state champion. The Mustangs 4x400 relay team of Alec Thomas, Micah Coffman, Payton Campbell and Braydon Campbell won the final event of the day to take home a state title.

In baseball, Bloomington Central Catholic is a sectional champ for the first time since 1956. The Saints beat Eureka 3-2 to win the Class 2A Millikin sectional. In 1A, Henry is a sectional champion after a 6-1 win over Heyworth. In big schools baseball, Morton, Peoria Richwoods and Normal Community all won regional championships
