(25News Now) - The boys state track meet kicked off on Tuesday with preliminary action in Class 1A. Eureka’s Charlie Bardwell won his heat of the 800 and put in the second-best time in the state. Bardwell also anchored the Hornets to a win in their heat of the 4x800 relay as Eureka posted the state’s best time in prelims. The Hornets also qualified in the 4x400 relay. Ridgeview qualified for Saturday’s finals in both the 4x100 and 4x400. The Mustangs had the state’s top prelim time in the 4x400 and the second-fastest in the 4x100.

Big schools baseball regional rolled on on Wednesday. At the Class 3A Bloomington regional, Normal U-High knocked off the host Raiders 13-1 to advance to Saturday’s regional title game against Champaign Central. In Class 4A, Normal Community beat East Moline 1-0 to advance to the Pekin regional final. They’ll take on Plainfield Central for the regional championship Saturday.

It’s sectional time in small schools baseball. At the Class 1A IWU Sectional, Henry beat Delavan 3-0 to advance to Saturday’s sectional final against Heyworth. At the Class 2A Knoxville sectional, LVC’s magical run came to an end with a 1-0 loss to Spring Valley Hall.

In soccer, Normal U-High is preparing for their second straight trip to the IHSA State Finals
